Rohloff has remained the gold standard for internally geared hubs (IGHs) for decades. Precision German manufacturing, minimal maintenance, high efficiency and a dramatic 526% gear range (typical 11 speed drivetrain maxes out at 400% gear range).

Bosch is the largest automotive parts maker in the world, and their products span the industrial markets, automotive, home, tools and more. Their electric bicycle motor systems are recognized worldwide as some of the best.

Unlike our Congress, partnership seems to be in the DNA of both of these companies. Introducing the E-14 electronic shifting system by Rohloff, specifically for Bosch powered e-bikes. Using CAN-Buss connectivity, the motor system alerts the shifter when power is being transferred to the chain. When a shift occurs, the motor power is reduced to allow the shift to happen cleanly and quietly. On certain eShift compatible Bosch models, you will be able to view which gear your in (and with Rohloff that could be one in fourteen!) on your Bosch digital display.

Presently this system is only available on select Riese & Muller 2019 model bikes. Aftermarket upgrades are not yet available, and we’re not certain when and if this will become possible.

THE BASICS

You shift gears using a two-button up-down shifter according to the arrows. Buttons are time sensitive - a quick press will advance or retreat one gear. A three second press will prompt Multishift mode where the system will shift three gears at a time, in sequence, until released.

AUTO DOWNSHIFT MODE

Auto downshift mode allow you to select a gear that the bike will automatically shift to when the bike comes to a stop. This process happens automatically once set, meaning you will never again find yourself in the wrong gear at a green light. No other system offers this advantage.
