Tern HSD Carsick Sling Modified Install

We’ve received some feedback and noticed that on the HSD, the Carsick slings hang lower than is ideal. We’ve got a new tip to share to help improve the usability and security of the bags.

We are happy to do this modification for you if you would like to drop by the shop, but is also easily done at home with four zip ties so we wanted to share how:

Required tools

  • 4 zip ties

  • diagonal cutters (or nail clippers!)

Instructions

  1. Take the buckle for closing the bag and extend the strap on the top section of it.

  2. Utilising the extra length in the strap, wrap the buckle twice around the lower rail of the rack (the same one the backplate of the bag is clipped to).

3. To secure the buckle when it is unclipped, loop a zip tie around the two layers above the buckle. Clip zip tie excess.

4. Repeat for the other three buckles.

Otherwise, we found the HSD Sidekick Footrests can somewhat help support the bags, though the gain can be marginal. If you do opt for them, we recommend having it done professionally since they mount to the sliding dropouts and can be a little tricky.
